SMPP-HTTP Bridge
The SMPP-HTTP Bridge (SHB) is an on-premises platform that enables interoperability between SMPP and HTTP SMS infrastructures. It can be deployed either at the edge of your HTTP-centric SMS gateway or alongside your SMPP-capable platform, allowing you to:
Expose SMPP to your customers
Translate incoming SMPP SubmitSMs into HTTP calls against your existing HTTP-based SMS gateway, so clients can use SMPP without any changes to your gateway.Connect SMPP platforms to third-party HTTP APIs
Route messages from your SMPP infrastructure onto any supplier’s HTTP SMS API, even if that supplier does not support SMPP natively.
SHB delivers high performance, reliability and flexibility:
SMPP compatibility: Support for SMPP v3.4 and SMPP v5.0.
Protocol translation: Converts each SMPP SubmitSM into a single HTTP POST or GET request.
Delivery-receipt handling:
Awaits provider HTTP callbacks (where HTTP API returns a unique message ID) and relays them as SMPP DLRs.
Alternatively, generates synthetic DLRs immediately upon successful HTTP submission, if callbacks are not required.
High throughput: Capable of up to 500 transactions per second*.
Customisable HTTP API layer: Tailor URL parameters, authentication schemes and payload formats to match your own or any supplier’s specifications. Multiple HTTP APIs can be supported. Integration of HTTP API support is developed and customised by Melrose Labs.
SHB is typically installed as an on-premises Linux build—ideal for organisations requiring full control over data and infrastructure—but a cloud-hosted version is also available on request, offering the same feature set, performance and security standards.
